Guinzburg, the head of Viking Press: ÒIt will be agreeable to us to have you use E.M. Forster's A ROOM WITH A VIEW in a Forster Viking Portable on the basis you suggested to me that we be paid that part of the royalty which the length of A ROOM WITH A VIEW bears to the weight of the entire volume. As I understood it, you did plan to include in the volume any of Forster's short stories; if you did, I assume they would come from THE COLLECTED TALES OF E.M. FORSTER which we published in 1947. I'm awfully eager to know how the devil you can manage a limited edition of a 600-odd page book at $12.50 a copy when you make only 750 copies. It seems to me that you actual outgo would exceed your income...I'd like to know what you are allowing for manufacturing costs and whether you are giving forty off to the trade. I'm especially interested because we have a somewhat similar problem on our own hands this fall....Ó
