First Edition. Specially hardbound mimeographed 105 page script for the film ÔSpecter of the Rose,' written and directed by Ben Hecht, himself, starring Judith Anderson, Michael Chekhov, Ivan Kirov, Viola Essen, and Lionel Stander. With 6 black & white stills (7 1/2Ó x 9 1/4Ó) from the film, depicting key scenes. Hardbound in maroon cloth boards with gilt-stamping to the spine. With ÒTed BallÓ gilt stamped to the lower right corner of the front board. Near fine copy with a touch of use and edge wear. An unusual film noir which tells the story of a charming ballet dancer named Sanine who is suspected of murdering his first wife. In spite of the rumors, the lovely ballerina Haidi marries him, and the drama deepens.
