First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author, Herbert Childs to actor Jean Hersholt. Hersholt won a two special Academy Awards for his work with the Motion Picture Relief Fund and his efforts in the film industry, and upon his death had an Academy Award named in his honor the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. Basis of the film starring Gene Tierney, Richard Boone, with screenplay by Philip Dunne. With a tipped-in bookplate from the Motion Picture Country House noting that the book was donated by Jean Hersholt. Stamp on the endpaper ÒMotion Picture Country House Library CopyÓ. About fine in a very good dust jacket with a few small chips and tears.
