Boston Little, Brown 1954
First Edition. Signed presentation copy from Jacqueline Cochran, inscribed by the author: ÒFor Mr. & Mrs. William Callahan, With best wishes, Jacqueline Cochran.Ó Very slight split beginning at front fold, else a near fine copy with a minor paper clip indentation to the first few pages in a very good plus to near fine price-clipped dust jacket with a few tiny tears and a hint of rubbing at the corners. The autobiography of Jaqueline Cochran, world famous aviatrix, who in 1937 was given the General Billy Mitchell award for her contribution to the progress of aviation in the United States and was also awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in 1945 as Director of the Women's Air Force Service Pilots (WASPS) for flying over 60 million miles in wartime, and received the International Flying Organization's gold medal in 1953 for outstanding achievements as a pilot - male or female. In her spare time, Ms. Cochran was an international social and political personality, wife, hostess, and prize-winning needleworker. What couldn't this amazing woman do?
