Accompanied by a 44 long page dialogue continuity script, stapled at the top. Very good.

First Edition. Limitled to 500 copies. A booket issued as a holiday greeting in December 1992 to the friends of Kirk Douglas and Pepper and Stern Rare Books. It publishes a long letter that Douglas wrote to Cooper in May, 1961 from on the set of Lonely Are the Brave adapted from the novel, The Brave Cowboy, by Edward Abbey. Mint in the rarely present original publisher's envelope which is also in mint condition. When published, Variety, the entertainment bible newspaper described it as Ò...the Christmas greeting of the year.Ó Finely printed and produced, a charming and interesting item.

The telegram is addressed to Jimmy Starr and reads in full: ÒJimmy Starr, Herald dont fone [sic] DLR after 9 a.m. Jan. 2 LosA. We hope you will join us for a cup of good cheer and a welcome for Sir Laurence Olivier, with whom we soon start our picture, ÔSpartacus,' his first in Hollywood for eight years. Time and place: Sunday, January 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Beverly Hilton's ÔStar on the Roof.' RSVP Stanley 7-1211, Extension 766. Cordially, Kirk Douglas.Ó Creases from folding and two 1/2Ó tears, else fine. ÔSpartacus' is based on the novel by Howard Fast, directed by Stanley Kubrick with a screenplay by Dalton Trumbo, starring Kirk Douglas in the title role, with an all-star cast including Laurence Olivier, Tony Curtis (as Antoninus), Jean Simmons, Charles Laughton, Peter Ustinov, John Gavin (as Julius Caesar), Nina Foch, John Ireland. The film won Oscars Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Peter Ustinov), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color, Best Cinematography, Color, and Best Costume Design, Color. It was nominated for Oscars for Best Film Editing and Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture.
