LEA, FANNY HEASLIP Wild-Goose Chase New York Dodd, Mead 1929 First Edition. Signed presentation copy, inscribed by the author: ÒTo ÔSpig' Wead from his friend, Fanny Heaslip Lea.Ó ÔSpig' Wead was an ace pilot in the U.S. Navy during World War II, greatly contributing to the development of the Navy's aviation programs. After an unfortunate accident in which he became paralyzed, he became a writer of novels, stories, and screenplays, including West Point of the Air, China Clipper, Sea Devils, Moon Over Burma, etc. His biographical history Wings for Men served as the inspiration for the great John Ford film The Wings of Eagles starring John Wayne. Near fine bright clean copy with a very minor trace of edgewear at the corners in a chipped and dust soiled dust jacket with some darkening to the spine and a couple of tears with a striking 1920s design. A charming collection of ten short stories about the ups and downs of romantic life. Price:
45.00 USD
