First Edition. Laid in is a typed letter signed by the author, Gene Thompson, dated 20.i.88, to fellow writer Wayne Warga, discussing various subjects including a favorable review he had received from PW (Publisher's Weekly) and an invitation for a visit from Warga and his wife. Also laid in is an autographed signed Christmas postcard from Gene Thompson and his wife, Sylvia, to Wayne Warga. Fine in a fine dust jacket. A Dade and Ellen Cooley Book. From the library of Wayne Warga. The youngest editor at Life Magazine at age 25, Warga reported on John F. Kennedy's race for the Presidency, and went on to cover the Civil Rights movement for the magazine. For many years, Warga was one of the leading writers at the Los Angeles Times where he did in depth articles and features on writers and people in the arts. Later, Warga became a mystery novelist, creating three well-received bibliomysteries: Hardcover, Fatal Impressions, and Singapore Transfer, featuring Los Angeles rare book dealer, Jeffrey Dean.

First Edition. Advance review copy with the publisher's promotional material laid in. Inscribed and signed by the author, Gene Thompson, to fellow writer, Wayne Warga. Inscribed: ÒFor Wayne Warga, who honors me by his praise of it. In gratitude, Gene Thompson, Malibu, November 6, 1980.Ó Also laid in is a two-page type letter signed from Gene Thompson to Wayne Warga dated 13.iii.81, in which Thompson expresses his appreciation for a very positive review and interview by Warga which did much to promote the book and lift his spirits. Thompson goes on to invite Warga and his wife to come to his home in Idyllwild. Tucked into the letter is a snapshot of Thompson and a small piece of paper with some review notes in Warga's hand. Also laid in is a small sheet of note paper with review notes of the book in novelist and journalist Wayne Warga's hand. About fine with a minute trace of edge wear in a near fine bright dust jacket with one 1/8Ó tear to the top edge of the rear panel. From the library of Wayne Warga.
