Vickery Turner (1945 - 2006) was a British actress, playwright, author, and stage director. Her first role as an actress was in the first production of ÔThe Prime of Miss Jean Brodie' with Vanessa Redgrave, for which she received the Clarence Derwent Award for the best supporting performance and the London Critics Award for the most promising newcomer. She met Warren Oates in while working together on the film ÔCrooks and Coronets' with Telly Savalas. After a tumultuous time together, they divorced in 1974. One of the characters in ÔFocusing' is a thinly veiled portrait of Warren Oates. She went on to act in a variety of American and British television series and movies including The Waltons, The Brontes of Haworth, Love American Style, Ruby and Oswald, The Good Soldier, and more. Turner was also a successful novelist and her published novels included Focussing, Lovers of Africa (Love & Hunger in the USA), The Testimony of Daniel Pagels and Delicate Matters.
