Nolan's work is mostly in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres, with perhaps his best known novel being ÔLogan's Run' which he co-authored with George Clayton Johnson and which was the basis of the film starring Michael York and Jenny Agutter and the television series. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the 1976 horror film ÔBurnt Offerings' starring Karen Black and Bette Davis. His biographies and collections include ÔJohn Huston: King Rebel' (1965), ÔHemingway: Last Days of the Lion' (1974), ÔMcQueen' (1984), and ÔThe Black Mask Boys' (1985).
