First Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author Irving Stone to author Max Miller and his wife: “To the Millers, Inc., from the Stones, Inc. Just to prove how imbecilic (see Dewey chapter) political prophets can be. With love, Irving. Aug. 16, 1948.” Illustrated. Very good copy with some very minor edge wear and slightly bumper corners in a very good lightly dust soiled dust jacket with some fading to the spine and some small chips. Irving Stone's assessment of twelve U.S. presidents and their defeated opponents which include Henry Clay, Stephen Douglas, Alfred E. Smith, Wendell L. Willkie, and, as mentioned in the inscription, Thomas E. Dewey, who ran against Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
