8 Original Supper Menu from the Cocoanut Grove at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles
1935
Signed on the back cover by film actresses Joan Bennett and Alice Faye. A 7” x 10 1/2” supper menu printed on stiff paper, the front cover of which is illustrated with three seated monkeys in the classic ‘speak no evil, see no evil, hear no evil' pose. Beneath the actress' autographs is a hand-written account of that evening's entertainment and attendance statistic as noted by an anonymous souvenir collector: “Marjorie Keeler - tap dance, Alice Dunn - Geo. White Scandals [a Broadway show] - blues singer, Graham McMenamee - singer, Eddie Duchin's Orcherstra, Phil Baker. 1780 people here tonight, Tues. Aug. 13. Souvenir of Movieland Tour - August 5 to 19th, 1935.” Very good with some minor dust soiling and two small spots on the rear cover, one of which slightly overlaps the “B” in “Bennett”. Joan Bennett is best known for her films The Reckless Moment and Father of the Bride (with Spencer Tracy), and for her roles in director Fritz Lang's films Man Hunt, The Woman in the Window, Scarlet Street, and The Secret Beyond the Door.
