2 BERMAN, SUSAN & ROBERT DURST Easy Street - The True Story of a Mob Family
New York Dial Press 1981
First Edition, First Printing. Signed and inscribed by the author Susan Berman, the murdered writer and journalist, who was close friends with New York real estate heir Robert Durst who is being tried for her murder. The book is inscribed: “Jan 1, 2000, Dear Arnie: It was a pleasure to meet such a gentleman in L.A.! Have a wonderful new year. Love, Susan Berman. P.S. I can't wait to see your documentary Pts of Light. I hope it can be rented.” Illustrated. This is Berman's memoir of growing up in a mob family in Las Vegas. Fine in a very good dust jacket with a few minor tears. Susan Berman's relationship with Robert Durst and her homicide just before Christmas in 2000 was profiled in depth in the acclaimed 2015 HBO documentary series The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst, directed by Andrew Jarecki. In a 2005 deposition Durst reported that Ms. Berman had contacted him about how the Los Angeles Police Department wanted to talk with her about the unresolved October 2000 disappearance of Durst's first wife Kathleen McCormack, for which Durst was extensively questioned about at the time, but was not formally charged with a crime. As events unfolded, n March 14, 2015 Robert Durst was arrested by FBI agents in New Orleans for Susan Berman's murder. Ironically, the HBO documentary, for which Durst voluntarily granted lengthy interviews, contributed key new evidence to Berman's homicide investigation which eventually lead to the filing of murder charges against him. All in all, a complex and enigmatic story.
