6 MAMET, DAVID Bradford - Original Screenplay by David Mamet
New York October 1997
Original 104 page screenplay bradbound in wrappers. Fine. From the collection of the highly respected film producer John Calley (1930-2011). This script was sent to Calley by Mamet and laid in is a file photocopy of a letter from Mamet to Calley dated April 23, 2004. In the chatty and personally friendly letter, he sends on this script saving that he would love to direct it and considers it the best thing he has ever written. In 1988, Mamet wrote Bradford as a teleplay which was not produced. In 1990, he decided to publish it in his book, Five Television Plays. Still haunted by the story, Mamet re-wrote the piece as a feature film screenplay which is what is present here and is unpublished in this later form. Bradford is a mystery drama in which “a new police chief arriving in a small New England town is plunged into the midst of its cozy secrets and uncovers the truth behind his predecessor's mysterious fatal hunting accident.
