1 STEWART, DONALD OGDEN The Crazy Fool
New York Albert & Charles Boni 1925
Third printing. Presentation to film director Tod Browning from Stewart. Inscribed: “To Tod Browning, a great director, with gratitude for ‘Ben Hur” among others. Donald Ogden Stewart.” The inscription is a joke inscription from Stewart as the highly successful silent film version of Ben-Hur was directed by Fred Niblo. Spine somewhat darkened else very good without dust jacket. Tod Browning's career film career as a director of mystery, horror, and the macabre, spanned both silents and talkies. He rose to success with his successful partnership with Lon Chaney Sr., on such films as The Unholy Three, London After Midnight, The Unknown, etc. He is best remembered for the original film version of Dracula starring Bela Lugosi and his masterpiece Freaks which utilized real freaks of nature as members of the cast.
