19 COTTON CLUB - THE FILM Two Original Individually Framed Preliminary Pencil Drawings for a One-Sheet Poster for the Francis Ford Coppola Film ‘The Cotton Club'

Each drawing measures 6 1/2” x 10” and is professionally framed with cream matting and black frames for finished pieces measuring approximately 12” x 15 1/2”. One sketch shows jazz musician Dixie Dwyer (Richard Gere) wear a tuxedo and holding his trumpet with the lovely Vera Cicero (Diane Lane) standing next to him and with a small group of lively dancers and musicians in silhouette at the bottom edge. The other sketch shows Gere and Lane in an affectionate embrace with a dancing couple in the background and a design of gangsters with guns along the bottom border, and with ‘The Cotton Club' text just below the center of the composition. The Cotton Club was directed by Francis Ford Coppola, with a screenplay by William Kennedy and Coppola, starring Richard Gere, Diane Lane, Gregory Hines, Bob Hoskins, James Remar, Laurence Fishburne, Nicolas Cage, Fred Gwynne, and Gwen Verdon. The film tells a story set in the dynamic, famous, and sometimes infamous Cotton Club in Harlem, New York. It received two Oscar nominations - for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration and Best Film Editing. It also received two Golden Globe nominations - Best Picture - Drama and Best Director - Motion Picture (Francis Ford Coppola). The pair:
