2 ROWLING, J.K Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Accompanied by a Related Magazine On Artist, Mary GrandPre
New York Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic Press 2000
First Edition - American, First Printing. This is one of the great rarities in Harry Potter collecting, as it is only one of 25 special copies which features an original full page signed drawing of Harry Potter drawn in the book by Mary GrandPre, the official illustrator for all the American editions of the Harry Potter books. Hand-drawn in color by Ms. GrandPre on the half title before the start of the novel, the drawing depicts a wonderful smiling Harry Potter in the act of creating magical stars with his wand, with Hogwarts, the Wizard's School, seen standing in the background. Signed, dated, copyrighted by Mary GrandPre, the book is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity attesting to the small number done. GrandPre's art will grace the total matched set of the Harry Potter books and it is her artwork that is becoming the standard images of the world of Harry Potter. Her visual influence in how the characters look shows up in the Harry Potter movies. A terrific opportunity to own an important piece of original Harry Potter art. The book is an unread as new copy in an as new dust jacket. The novel won the Hugo Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. The book is also accompanied by a fine copy of the February /March 2001 issue of Mary Englebreit's Home Companion Magazine, which contains a terrific article, “Mary Grandpre - Her Face Gives Fantasy a Face”, on Mary GrandPre, the illustrator of all the American editions of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels, in which she reveals that she used herself as the model for the image of Harry Potter, and the color photograph of her, indeed, show a striking pixie resemblance. There are photographs of her drawing a Harry Potter illustration and her studio.
