Photoplay edition issued to coincide with the release of the film starring Lon Chaney, Sr., Norma Shearer, and John Gilbert. Near fine lightly used copy in a very good lightly dust soiled dust jacket with some chipping to the spine. The front panel of the dust jacket is a color painting of the lovely Norma Shearer who plays a beautiful bareback rider in the circus tenderly pinning a large red heart to the front of Lon Chaney's clown costume as he gazes at her with much adoration.

2 FITZGERALD, F. SCOTT The Great Gatsby
New York Grosset & Dunlap 1949 
Photoplay Edition issued to coincide with the release of the Alan Ladd first sound film of ÔThe Great Gatsby' produced by Paramount Pictures in 1949. Near fine, bound in cloth, with blue top stain, in the dust jacket with the pictorial wraparound band depicting scenes from the film. The front panel of the band has a photograph of actor Alan Ladd as Jay Gatsby admiring a young woman dancing the Charleston while at a wild twenties style party. The spine portion gives the title, the film studio, and the performers. The rear panel shows a photograph of Alan Ladd, Barry Sullivan, and Betty Field as Daisy Buchanan. Other photograph scenes are depicted on the front and rear flaps of the band. The movie wraparound band is very scarce.This edition is not noted in the photoplay and movie tie-in bibliographies, The dust jacket has a few short edge tears and a couple of tiny chips, and with a couple of small chips and nicks in the band.
