1 AHLSWEDE, ANN Hunting Wolf
New York Ballantine 1974
Later printing. Paperbound. Signed and inscribed by the author, noted Western author, Ann Ahlswede: “To Angelo Carli, My own experience with ‘time & chance' surely was the reason I wrote this book. Not sure I resolved anything, but enjoyed the process. Ann Ahlswede.” Near fine only slightly used copy in printed wrappers. Laid in is an autograph letter signed by Ann Ahlswede, to the book's recipient, on Ahlswede's personal printed stationery, dated 4/23/86. The letter reads: Dear Angelo, I'm embarrassed in taking so long in sending you these books back to you, and flattered that you asked by to subscribe them. What conflict life presents! As to their creation, I'm still not exactly sure why I wrote them, or the ones following and in between, which have generally been, in my view, better books with less commercial value. So it goes. Enclosed you'll find a copy of the 2nd in the group, for your collection. I do fear they are all going to self-destruct in a few years due to the acid paper they are printed on. I persist in efforts to have them reprinted but the market is very flighty these days, and very different from what it was a few years ago. Trends come and go so quickly and lead time between acceptance and publication is so long that books can fail before they are on the shelves. I've been working as editor/co-writer on an historical novel with a friend, and I think it has a good chance of making it. I do have plans for my own work as soon as I settle in the right word processor, but I've spent more time lately in the field of art, and am beginning to discover some interesting and somewhat surprising connections between the writing & the painting. It's all a great adventure, isn't it? My best to Ann. Please do call & come by some time. I'd love to show you the house and hear more of what you and Ann are doing. Best wishes, Ann.” With printed envelope. Fine condition. Ann Ahlswede wrote many novels, mostly in the Western genre, including The Savage Land and Day of the Hunter.
