1 MCKEEN, WILLIAM Bob Dylan. A Bio-Bibliography
Westport, CT Greenwood Press 1993
First Edition. A few tiny spots to the top edge, else a fine fresh copy without dust jacket as issued. A well-researched and comprehensive work honoring the life and music of Bob Dylan, beginning with three chapters of biography, then on to explore Dylan's music and its influence on American and world culture, an extensive song catalogue and bibliographical material, and much reference material, including discography, concert itineraries, and film work. Mr. McKeen makes it clear in his preface that while Dylan did not officially sanction this book, his representatives did make it known that he wished the project good luck. From Chapter 10, “Bob Dylan's Life-in-Progress,” McKee uses a quote from Dylan which appeared in Joe Smith's book Off the Record: An Oral History of Popular Music (New York: Warner Books, 1988): “People ask me if it's hard being me. I answer, ‘To a degree, but it's not any more difficult than being George Michael.' You can't really complain about who you are. You just have to make the most of it and that's all that can be expected of you.”
