1 CANTRIL, HADLEY The Invasion From Mars. A Study in the Psychology of Panic. With the Complete Script of the Famous Orson Welles Broadcast

First Edition. Signed by the author, screenwriter Howard Koch who wrote the radio script for Welles' War of the Worlds 1938 Mercury Theatre broadcast, which was adapted from H.G. Wells' classic science fiction novel, and is published here in its entirety for the first time. Near fine copy with some very minor edge wear in a very good dust jacket with a touch of darkening to the spine and rear panel and a few tiny edge nicks and small tears. The fascinating story of how Welles' fictional radio broadcast of a Martian invasion sparked widespread panic and social disturbance across the nation, including information derived from interviews of 135 people who had listened to the broadcast, with over 100 of them having become significantly upset as a result.

B.C.” On page 58 Castle has underlined “she was beautiful and breathtaking.” Pages browned as usual. Very good in a dust jacket with a couple of internal and external repairs, and a few tiny chips. A novel by William Castle who went on to be the great director of gimmick related horror or exploitation films of the 1950s. Scarce in dust jacket, especially inscribed.
