1 ASINOF, ELIOT Man On Spikes
Carbondale Southern Illinois University Press 1998
Limited Signed Edition of the classic Baseball novel. One of only 75 numbered deluxe copies signed by the author, Eliot Asinof, of which only 50 copies were offered for sale. Contains a new preface by Asinof as well as a new introduction by Marvin Miller, the eloquent baseball-loving attorney who represented the Baseball Players Association during the recent long and lamented strike. As new without dust jacket as issued. Considered one of the finest baseball novels ever written. The author is equally famous for his book on the 1919 Black Sox baseball scandal, Eight Men Out.

2 WALLOP, DOUGLAS The Year the Yankees Lost the Pennant
New York Norton 1954
First Edition. Fine bright fresh copy in a bright dust jacket with only the very slightest hint of sunning at spine (usually found quite faded) and a few nicks and a few small tears. A book notoriously encountered in bad condition due the fragile papercovered boards and the bright yellow dust jacket which usually is heavily soiled, this copy is much better than usually found. A baseball fiction landmark, the basis for the Broadway musical and Hollywood film, Damn Yankees.
