1 COOPER, GARY Original Telegram from Screenwriter Charles Brackett to Hollywood Columnist Jimmy Starr
Los Angeles Western Union November 26, 1957 
The telegram is addressed to Jimmy Starr and reads in full: “To celebrate the return of Gary Cooper to the 20th Century-Fox lot and the start of ‘Ten North Frederick' Philip Dunne and I want you to join us in Coop's dressing room here at the studio at five o'clock Friday next November 29. Please Come, Charles Brackett.” Creases from folding and one tiny edge tear, else fine. Philip Dunne wrote and directed the film ‘Ten North Frederick' mentioned in the telegram, based on the novel by John O'Hara, in which Gary Cooper starred with Diane Varsi, Suzy Parker, and Geraldine Fitzgerald.

2 DOUGLAS, KIRK (OLIVIER, LAURENCE) Original Telegram from Actor Kirk Douglas to Hollywood Columnist Jimmy Starr
Beverly Hills Western Union January 1, 1959 
The telegram is addressed to Jimmy Starr and reads in full: “Jimmy Starr, Herald dont fone [sic] DLR after 9 a.m. Jan. 2 LosA. We hope you will join us for a cup of good cheer and a welcome for Sir Laurence Olivier, with whom we soon start our picture, ‘Spartacus,' his first in Hollywood for eight years. Time and place: Sunday, January 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Beverly Hilton's ‘Star on the Roof.' RSVP Stanley 7-1211, Extension 766. Cordially, Kirk Douglas.” Creases from folding and two 1/2” tears, else fine. ‘Spartacus' is based on the novel by Howard Fast, directed by Stanley Kubrick with a screenplay by Dalton Trumbo, starring Kirk Douglas in the title role, with an all-star cast including Laurence Olivier, Tony Curtis (as Antoninus), Jean Simmons, Charles Laughton, Peter Ustinov, John Gavin (as Julius Caesar), Nina Foch, John Ireland. The film won Oscars Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Peter Ustinov), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Color, Best Cinematography, Color, and Best Costume Design, Color. It was nominated for Oscars for Best Film Editing and Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture.
