1 BLOCH, ROBERT A Original Autographed and Signed Postcard from Robert A. Bloch to Science Fiction and Fantasy Editor and Publisher Andrew Porter
Los Angeles 6 1/2” x 3 3/4” September 1, 1978
Original postcard autographed and signed by the author Robert A. Bloch. In full: “Dear Andy, Many thanks for what if probably your best issue to date. Change your title if you must, but for heaven's sake don't change your editorial policies and high standard of content! Poul Anderson makes sense, Fritz Leiber gives a really candid insight with his creative processes, and I love Joe Haldeman's reference to ‘surreal writers' - the perfect descriptive phrase! Best, Bob.” The postmarked postcard is Bloch's personal printed card and is in fine condition. Andrew Porter has been active as an organizer, publisher, and editor of of many different fanzines (including the newszine S.F.Weekly, from 1966–68, and Algol). He founded his semiprozine Science Fiction Chronicle in 1979. His other publications, under the Algol Press imprint, are Exploring Cordwainer Smith, Experiment Perilous: The Art and Science of Anguish In Science Fiction (with essays by Marion Zimmer Bradley, Alfred Bester and Norman Spinrad), and The Fiction of James Tiptree, Jr. by Gardner Dozois. His work has appeared in Publishers Weekly, Omni, and the New York Times.
