1 GAVER, JACK & DAVE STANLEY There's Laughter in the Air! Radio's Top Comedians and Their Best Shows
New York Greenberg 1945
First Edition. From the library of actor Alan Young with his signature on the title page. Laid in is an original printed ticket (5 3/4” x 3”) for The Alan Young Show, American Broadcasting Co., Friday, February 8, 6:00 P.M., at Warner Bros. Studio in Hollywood. Alan Young is mentioned in the text on page 15: “A quick success late in 1943 was Alan Young, a Canadian who is strictly a radio product, which is something of a novelty now, but will probably be more common in the future.” Very good copy with a touch of edge wear and a bit of fading to the cloth at the spine without dust jacket. Alan Young worked with the most famous talking horse, Mister Ed, one of the most beloved television shows of all time. He is also known for his role of Filby, opposite Rod Taylor in the classic film version of H.G. Wells' The Time Machine (1960) directed by George Pal, and has appeared in such motion pictures as Mr. Belvedere Goes to College, Aaron Slick from Punkin Crick, Androcles and the Lion, and has provided the voice for Scrooge McDuck for Walt Disney cartoon films. In 1952 Alan Young received two Emmy's for ‘The Alan Young Show.'
