Contains the Tiffany & Company beautifully designed and engraved bookplate of titan of industry J. Ogden Armour. The bookplate depicts two cow steer heads in the upper corners beneath which is depicted the Armour factory in Chicago with smokestacks. In the lower left hand corner is a steam locomotive and in the lower right hand corner is a stack of books titled Economics. Jonathan Ogden Armour (November 11, 1863 August 16, 1927) was an American meatpacking magnate in Chicago, owner and president of Armour & Company. During his tenure as president, Armour & Co. expanded nationwide and overseas, growing from a mid-sized regional meatpacker to the largest food products company in the United States. He was also a significant investor in the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway and the Illinois Central Railroad. An adventure novel set in Napoleonic times. Very good in original gilt-stamped green cloth with a vertical crease to the rear board.
