1 LEVY, HAL & BARBARA GRAY Hollywood Boulevard. Screenplay by Hal Levy and Barbara Gray. Based on an Idea by Harry Freiberg
Los Angeles Michael Gertz Agency 1957
Original 108 page shooting script for an unproduced film musical entitled Hollywood Boulevard by Hal Levy and Barbara Gray, dated July 22, 1957. Bradbound in printed wrappers. Very good copy with some pale dampstaining to the edges of the front and back covers, not affecting the interior. The story line of Hollywood Boulevard centers on the ups and downs in the lives and careers of three movie people in Hollywood, spanning 50 years - George and Mary Marshall, a married couple, who start in vaudeville and move into film with moderate success, but with much joy, and Adam Welch who fulfills his ambition by becoming a successful motion picture director, but who feels that he lost out on true happiness. One of the early choruses has this to say about Hollywood Boulevard: “It's glamorous, it's amorous / It's even Cineramarous! / The most famous street in the world! / We sing its praises with voices unfurled!” All-in-all, this is a very sweet and funny film - too bad it never made it to the screen. The film's co-writer, Barbara Gray, wrote the screenplay for the 1957 romantic adventure film, Istanbul, directed by Joseph Pevney, and starring Errol Flynn, Cornell Borchers, John Bentley, and Leif Erickson.
