SIMON, NEIL The Cheap Detective - Screenplay by Neil Simon
Los Angeles Columbia Pictures 1977
First Edition. Signed presentation copy from Neil Simon to the film's script supervisor, H. Budd Otto. Inscribed on the title page: ̉To Bud, If this turns out to be valuable one day, I want it back. Thank you for keeping the words, the time and the faith. Warmest regards, Neil Simon." Original 131 page revised final draft shooting script with color rewrite pages dated May 16, 1977. The script was Bud Otto's working copy and is filled with his handwritten annotations. Bradbound in printed wrappers. Very good plus copy with some very minor use to the covers. The film was directed by Robert Moore and starred Peter Falk, Ann-Margret, Eileen Brennan, Sid Caesar, Stockard Channing, James Coco, Dom DeLuise, Louise Fletcher, John Houseman, Madeline Kahn, Fernando Lamas, Marsha Mason, Phil Silvers, Abe Vigoda, and Paul Williams. The story line is Simon's satirical take on the hardboiled detectives in film from the 40s, especially as depicted by Humphrey Bogart.
