First Edition. Original 114 page shooting script for an unproduced film “Marco Polo,” screenplay by Leo McCarey, based on the novel “Messer Marco Polo” by Donn Byrne. Bradbound in printed wrappers. Lightly used copy with some slight spotting and a few tears to the front cover, one of which affects a 1/2” area of the first page. Leo McCarey (1898 - 1969) began his career in film as an assistant director to Tod Browning in The Virgin of Stamboul (1920) and went on to develop his craft with Hal Roach, supervising and writing the stories for most of Laurel and Hardy's silent shorts. He also worked with a host of other comedic geniuses, including Eddie Cantor (The Kid from Spain), the Marx Brothers (Duck Soup), Mae West (Belle of the Nineties), W.C. Fields (Six of a Kind), and Harold Lloyd (The Milky Way). He won an Oscar in 1937 for directing The Awful Truth and three in 1944 - Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writing, Original Story for Going My Way.
