Tipped to the front free endpaper is a printed postcard addressed to the Librarian of the Lending Library of The Times Book Club handsigned ÒBernard ShawÓ and addressed by him ÓAyot Saint Lawrence, Welwyn. HertsÓ and he has written out the title and publisher of this book requesting the loan of a copy. The postcard is postmarked June 21, 1950. Tipped opposite on the front pastedown is a Typed Letter Signed from a Mr. Edgar, the Manager of the Times Book Club on their printed stationery dated September 9, 1952 which states: ÒI hereby certify that this copy of THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY AND JOURNALS OF BENJAMIN HAYDON is the copy issued by The Times Library to Mr. George Bernard Shaw on 22nd June 1950 in response to his attached hand-written order. We are informed that the book was on his bedside table at the date of his death.Ó A very good copy in a very good lightly chipped original printed glassine dust jacket. A remarkable association copy.
