A special film program made by the studio for advance screenings of the film, The Wiz, for reviewers and members of the motion picture industry. Also included is a specially printed promotional booklet (8 7/8Ó x 12Ó) made in a small number for distribution to members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in consideration for nominations of the film. The Wiz is an adaption of the classic film musical, The Wizard of Oz, updated for modern times and with a virtually all-black cast set in a stylized version of New York City, was directed by Sidney Lumet with a screenplay by Joel Schumacher, and starred Diana Ross (as Dorothy) Michael Jackson (as the Scarecrow), Nipsey Russell (as the Tinman), Ted Ross (as the Lion), and Lena Horne (as Glinda the Good Witch).
