One of James Norman Hall's own copies with his ownership blindstamp on the front free endpaper. Fine copy in a in a very slightly used neatly price-clipped dust jacket illustrated by N.C. Wyeth. Laid in are three long Typed Letters Signed from Hall's son-in-law, Nick G. Rutgers, Jr., 1978-1979, 7 quarto pages, written from Papeete, Tahiti, to writer Wayne Warga, who was covering for the Los Angeles Times, the making of the motion picture version of Hurricane directed by Jan Troell and starring Mia Farrow, Timothy Bottoms, Trevor Howard, James Robards, James Keach, etc. Nick Rutgers and his wife Nancy Hall Rutgers both played parts in the film. Very chatty and informative letters with interesting Nordhoff and Hall family and publishing information, the Nordhoff and Hall Library, very candid comments about the film and members of the cast, and assorted things of a Tahitian nature. From the library of journalist and novelist Wayne Warga. The youngest editor at Life Magazine at age 25, Warga reported on John F. Kennedy's race for the Presidency, and went on to cover the Civil Rights movement for the magazine. For many years, Warga was one of the leading writers at the Los Angeles Times where he did in depth articles and features on writers and people in the arts. Later, Warga became a mystery novelist, creating three well-received bibliomysteries: Hardcover, Fatal Impressions, and Singapore Transfer, featuring Los Angeles rare book dealer, Jeffrey Dean.
