| 3. | GOLDMAN, WILLIAM Typed Letter Signed from William Goldman New York 1 page, quarto September 8, 1980 Written to Graham Hodges at The New School in New York who had asked to give a speech one evening along with author Stephen King: ÒWhat follows, as they used to say on Dragnet, is true. I got your letter, naturally was flattered, etc. But I told myself, the idea of getting up in front of a group and doing anything not only gives me insomnia, it literally causes me to fixate on the coming event for what seems like ever. That night, and this is the true part, I actually dreamt that I was standing up in front of a group of people discussing a work in progress and not only did I forget what my own story was, the audience actually filed out. I don't think any more hints that. Sorry, because I'm a fan of Stephen King...but my public speaking days are now forever behind me...I King is ever in New York and would like a drink or dinner, please tell him I'd love to meet him. I'm in the phone book....Ó With the original envelope signed in full by Goldman in the return address. Ironically, Goldman and King would come to know each other well with Goldman writing screenplays for three of Stephen King's works, Misery, Hearts In Atlantis, and Dreamcatcher. Price: 250.00 USD | See Full Description |
