First Edition. Signed by actor Ingrid Bergman. Oversize format, 8 3/4” x 11 1/4”, 224 pages, illustrated throughout. Laid in is an original program for a Los Angeles County Museum of Art tribute in which 22 films were shown from January 5 to February 3, 1979 at the Leo S. Bing Theater. Near fine copy with some minor 1” dampstain to the cloth at the bottom of the spine and surrounding front and rear boards in a near fine dust jacket with a hint of dust soiling to the rear panel and few tiny edge tears. The last role profiled in this book is from a television production, The Human Voice (1967), a play based on a story by Jean Cocteau, produced David Suskind and Lars Schmidt, directed by Ted Kotcheff. Some of Bergman's best known films include Casablanca (1942) with Humphrey Bogart, Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound (1945) with Gregory Peck, Notorious (1946) with Cary Grant, and Murder on the Orient Express (1974) for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. She also won Oscars for Best Actress in Gaslight (1944), and Anastasia (1956), and was nominated for Oscars for For Whom the Bell Tolls (1943), The Bells of St. Mary's (1945), and Hostonaten (1978).

Joseph Steele was a personal representative, intimate friend, and advisor to Ingrid Bergman for over 15 years, and this book details her accomplishments onscreen and stormy relationships at home. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with minor wear to top and bottom of spine and a slight crease to the front panel.
