McCreery & Co., Ralph Barton for Harper's Bazar, Lawrence and Guido Rosa for Rolls Royce, Larry Stults for Van Alstyne Motor Corp., Lenore Herman for Shoecraft, Leon Underwood for Guerlain, Loewy for Renault, H.O. Hofman for The New Yorker, Don Herold for Boyce Moto Meters, and many more. The souvenir program book sold at first run showings of the charming British film comedy Just William's Luck directed by Val Guest who co-wrote the screenplay with Richmal Crompton, as an adaptation from Crompton's popular novel. The film stars Garry Marsh, Jane Welsh, Hugh Cross, Kathleen Stuart, Hy Hazell, and William Graham as the young William. Laid in is a small printed note from the publisher clarifying that this booklet is unrelated to the forthcoming publication of the book Just William's Luck by Richmal Crompton which is part of the famous “William” series published by Messrs. George Newnes & Co. With text and illustrated throughout with black & white stills from the film and photos from the set. Near fine bright copy in printed wrappers with just a faint trace of ageing and wear to the front panel.

Very good plus copy with some minor edge wear and a hint of rubbing in printed wrappers. The Academy Players Directory was initiated in 1937 as a reference book for casting directors and production companies, as well as a resource for theatrical agents trying to present both their new and established actors, and for anyone interested in learning about the movie industry. Includes black & white photographs of the actors, an alphabetical index with the phone numbers of the players, and listings of studio casting personnel and artists' representatives. With ‘A Brief History of the Academy Players Directory (1936 - 1981)' by Patricia L. Miele, an introductory essay by the then President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Fay Kanin, and a preface by the editor, Marjories Elizabeth Blye. The front cover is a full-color collage illustration showing some of the brightest stars of that time, including Greta Garbo, Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Spencer Tracy, Boris Karloff, Mae West, W.C.
